Dr Andrew Dunbar, who serves as Director of the Office of Science, Technology and Research (OSTAR) with the Industry Innovation Science and Small Business Division in the Department of State Development (DSD), joined the South Australian Space Industry Team as Director in 2017.
In his role at DSD, he is responsible for supporting the Government’s science, technology innovation and research strategy to support economic development and transformation.
Andrew has more than 17 years’ experience working in the life sciences industry in Australia and Europe. He has a PhD in molecular biology/biochemistry from Flinders University, and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Previous roles have included Director, Business and Corporate Development at Mayne Pharma Group and Senior Manager, Corporate Business Development and Acquisitions at Novozymes A/S, based in Denmark.
He currently sits on a number of boards and committees, including South Australian Venture Capital Fund Management committee, TechinSA Board, SABRENet Board, Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing Advisory Board, Smart Cities Consortium, Innovation and Collaboration Centre Advisory Board and GigCity Adelaide Steering Committee.
