Over 1000 of the best and brightest minds in space will tune in to attend a fully virtual 10th Australian Space Forum on Wednesday 25 November 2020.

The Forum brings together space leaders from around the world and provides a platform to discuss space and its benefits to Australia’s broader economy, while also inspiring the next generation of space industry leaders to forge their own path in this exciting sector.

Due to recent restrictions associated with the COVID-19 cluster in South Australia, the premier event will be presented completely online through the Australian Space Forum app, which is available on mobile devices and desktop computers.

Participants will have the opportunity to connect with each other in real-time, as well as watch the full program of speakers and pose questions to panel presenters through the app’s live stream functionality.

Premier Steven Marshall said it was impressive to see this important Adelaide-based event continuing despite the difficult situation facing South Australians in the past week.

“It is a testament to the tenacity and determination of this growing sector that despite setbacks, the community can find a way to come together to share ideas, collaborate on new technologies and plan for the future of space in South Australia,” Premier Marshall said.

“This event is significant for our national space industry in supporting its pursuit for increased sector growth, ensuring our nation can build on its share of the lucrative global space economy.”

Chief Executive of the South Australian Space Industry Centre, Richard Price, said the event continues to go from one success to another, with more people registering for the current instalment than ever before.

“Over 1000 people within the space industry in Australia and around the world are currently registered to take part in the event, which when compared to the 80 registrations we received for the first Forum back in 2017, only proves how far we have come.”

“This biannual forum, supported by the Australian Space Agency and SmartSat Collaborative Research Centre (CRC), has fast become one of the foremost events on the national space industry calendar and continues to grow with each edition.”

The Forum boasts a program designed to showcase the best of the Australian space sector and encourage global collaboration and investment.

Forum sessions will include international panels respectively dedicated to the Australia-Japan bilateral collaboration, The GRAVITY Challenge innovation program and new uses for space data and space capability and an exploration into the evolving venture capital investment model.

Research and development activity developed through the SmartSat CRC and the Department of Defence partnership on the STaR Shots Strategy will also be a key feature.
