Venture Catalyst Space launched
Jun 27, 2018, 15:47 PM
Applications are now open for a new program to support start-ups and entrepreneurs to enter the growing space industry market.
The Space Incubator Program is part of the State Government’s $4 million Space Innovation Fund which was launched in September last year.
UniSA’s Innovation & Collaboration Centre, along with its global partners, will deliver the incubator program.
South Australian Space Industry Centre Chief Executive Richard Price said that the program will provide an excellent platform for emerging businesses and will support the state’s objectives to grow the space economy.
“We are committed to building a culture of entrepreneurship in South Australia to grow the local space industry and create new business opportunities,” he said.
“This program will support people with cutting-edge ideas to transform those concepts into new start-ups and sustainable businesses in our state.”
UniSA Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research and Innovation, Professor Tanya Monro says the University is delighted to be partnering with State Government to support the new-look Space Incubator Program.
“This is a partnership that builds on UniSA’s established research expertise in space and telecommunications technologies and in innovation and business development through the Venture Catalyst program,” said Professor Monro.
“A new approach to the program this year will focus on providing the expertise to support start-ups to establish and lead a space-related business.
“Our approach is to support the testing and validation of an idea before a business is built and launched.
“What we hope to do is encourage enterprising people with great ideas to move from the drawing board to becoming part of a vibrant local space industry in South Australia.”
